I'm a bit more sympathetic on this one. A golf course is a ton of open space, and Trump is essentially a constantly moving target because he's moving through that course while playing. So it isn't going to be as easy to isolate a protected area. And they did have this guy under observation, and shot as soon as they saw the rifle.
I'll take a lot of crap for this, but I kinda think they did their job this time. Or at the least, it wasn't gross negligence or worse like in Butler.

This round of golf was not announced nor known to the public. Only those close to President Trump and the Secret Service knew. How did this shooter know to be there that day? Something stinks.

Just the minimum. The averge shot for a trained sniper is around 600 meters or around 650 yards. The shooter was about half that distance.
Their followon to the situation may have been good, but like in Pennsylvania, their prep work was horrible. Their job is not to fend off an attack, but prevent it from happening. They didn’t do their job.

This rifle stuff isn't getting it done - that's so 1960's. Would not doubt someone has a thought to escalate up to modern standards with a drone attack. Everybody and their dog seems to be using them in conflicts all over the world, right now. Their use is more widespread than people think. Has ANY thought been put into Trump's security concerning that particular threat. And not just for one lone drone but if a swarm of the things are set upon him at once - what countermeasures do they have, available for use. One is if Trump wants to continue dikking around out in the open, there should always be some kind of mobile shelter very nearby at all times he can get behind or dive into when things go hairy.

But then there’s the question implied in the report that the shooter was there for at least 12 hours. How is the USSS not constantly sweeping the environment, using drones, helos, etc...?
Time for private security and several body doubles.
