Defamation is harder in the U.S., than say the U.K., but it does exist. But usually it’s very strict facts, not just opinion. You can say someone is dumb, or they smell, because that is considered opinion. I am not aware about the Ruby Freeman case, or who she is. I am sure there are lawyers here than can explain it more than I can.
