It depends on the state. In Florida, felons can vote once they complete their sentence and pay any fines, etc.

But, in the case of Trump, since he is still appealing, and I don't think he has even be sentenced, I'm not sure if he would be barred from voting yet.

Yeah, I did some googling after I asked that. Seems he would only be ineligible in Florida if he is ineligible in the state where he was convicted of a felony. In NY that means he would have to be incarcerated in NY at the time of the election.
