Refueling will be interesting. F1 cars currently use a little bit of hybrid technology assist to extend their range. Some of that technology is found in the Pacifica from Chrysler. It’s interesting stuff. Far from an EV but increasingly hybrid.

EVs are refueled by electric charging. Lotus does not compete in F1. It’s official: No more Lotus ICE or hybrid cars after Emira.

In a F1 vehicle the 1.6 liter V6 internal combustion engine (ICE) makes about 700 HP. The hybrid system of electric power adds an additional 160 HP that can be used for up to 33 seconds per lap.

There is MASSIVE technology included in the hybrid engineering which doesn’t so much ‘extend their range’ as increase acceleration for shorter lap times and/or add a boost while passing an opponent.
