Circle Jerks (punk) are STILL doing live gigs, lol. Tight band.
A Ramones concert at Toad’s Place in New Haven left me deaf for 3 days.
You both beat me to it.
I was just about to post The Fixx and Pet Shop Boys.
Also loved Howard Jones.
If the Clash and Squeeze are considered New Wave, they should be on the list, too.
There was nobody quite like the late Mark E. Smith....

Toads Place, 1989 or 1992?
West End Girls was quite the hit and got lots of airplay.
I would have put Simple Minds at #1.
Wire Train..The Primitives..Echo and the Bunnymen
Now that was Grotesque.
..and BILLY IDOL isn’t on the list. He was an early MTV video performer.
Also, “Opportunities” (”Let’s Make Lots of Money”) got a lot of airplay.
Yes?
Lmao. Around there. Exactly what year, I can no longer remember.
What is clear is I was standing outside the mosh pit doing the pushing people back in or picking people up when they fell thing when a coworker I didn’t know was there bumped into me. Instead of pushing him back in, I grabbed him by his shirt and said Brian!
Became fast friends after that night. Met our wives one day apart on the same Caribbean vacation, he was in my wedding. He died in 2001.
You went to Toads?
All my life I though this was an old Chinese lady, but.. the singer is WHITE now that's a shocker.
We were all about the money in the 1980s. :-)
The Smithereens
I listen The Talking Heads “Life During Wartime” with foreboding.
Don’t think their new wave really.
They’re from where I live now. But saw them at UConn in like 87 or 88 at their spring week party thing. Stevie Ray Vaughan also.
Memorable. Lots of acid was taken by people I was with and it was, um, eventful to say the least.
Pat Dinizio’s cousin was my ex wife’s roommate in college and afterwards and was a bridesmaid. He wasn’t at the wedding though. 😁
