I only looked at a few but I assume all of them are stories of sudden deaths. So it follows these things do happen then.
I can’t explain why I don’t remember any young athletes collapsing and dying or why anyone I know does not either.

Yes, they’re all examples of young, seemingly healthy athletes collapsing. Not all of them died, but most of them did. It’s certainly not an everyday occurrence, but it does happen from time to time. It even happens on the professional level sometimes.
Miami Dolphin’s linebacker Larry Gordon collapsed and died in 1983 while jogging during the offseason. He was 28 years old.
