I keep hearing “this happens all the time you just never hear about it”. Strange, all of a sudden we are hearing about this on a fairly regular basis.
In all my years neither I, nor anyone I know, or any news publication any of us have ever read, not even a radio or news broadcast reported the supposedly “thousands” of sudden deaths by young, healthy athletes.
And most everyone I know has always been associated one way or another with youth and college sports.
I guess all of us have lived a sheltered life - only rainbows and unicorns; insulated from the real world.
Anything that disrupts the narrative gets buried.
How has life expectancy moved?
What is the number of excess deaths?
What is the number of deaths in the last 10 years?
The last one is better because it is harder to fudge the numbers.
It doesn’t happen all the time but it’s far from being unheard of. I compiled a list of 2017 collapses (pre-covid) just to show that it’s not a new phenomenon. Have you been living a sheltered life or do such stories just get more press since Covid? Keep in mind that these cases are for only one year, 2017, and are not necessarily an exhaustive list.
