Northern Illinois stunned No. 5 Notre Dame 16-14 with a late field goal by Kanon Woodill on Saturday.

Woodill kicked a 36-yard field goal with 31 seconds left as Notre Dame couldn’t stop the Huskies after a second interception by Riley Leonard. It's Northern Illinois' first win ever against a team ranked in the top 10 of the AP Top 25.

The only players the MAC, AAC, M-West will get to transfer are third tier FBS players or second rate FCS players...those conferences cannot keep up with the NIL to the big budget programs.

Auburn was supposed to be good and win said coach Sabin, grudgingly

Iowa was supposed to beat Iowa State

The Golden Domers were supposed to beat NIU

College football is very unpredictable, and more entertaining than the NFL

I swear UND sold their soul to the devil back in 2009 when they had Obama speak

Yes. One year after that a football player Prince Shembo raped a St. Mary's girl. She reported it but Notre Dame protected the rapist and she committed suicide. Didn't someone get killed right after that when an observation tower collapsed at the football field?

Money is one thing, but the other is that kids aren’t locked in and can transfer to play.

The blue bloods won’t stack talent as deep, because kids will transfer in order to see the field somewhere.

I agree, call it what it is now, pro football.

Virtually all starters are transfers from other colleges. Between the portal and the NIL money many get, they are pros—not student athletes!

The Notre Dame QB played for 3 years at DUKE. It’s ridiculous.

Ostensibly Catholic Notre Dame has been cursed ever since they invited the pro abortion Obama to give their commencement and bestowed on this baby killer a Doctor of Laws degree. They have not won any critical games or a national championship in anything.

They have also nade the post season Bowl games a complete joke—as most seniors will not play, risking injury—and losing their chance to go pro or transfer to another college next year. Again, college football players now are hardly student athletes, they are pros.

Heck, I think Arch Manning at Texas made more money than the Chicago Bears starting QB this year. And he hasn’t really even played yet.

It’s worse than Pros because at least in the NFL players are under contract for multiple years, in college there is no commitment beyond this season.

That’s why they had to expand the playoffs, because the old school bowl games were dead.

NIU enrollment has been tanking for several years; it got up into the mid-20,000's range for a while, now it's 17.100 total, 15,500 undergraduate. few years ago, the school started offering zero-tuition to inner city Chicago students, in order to keep the drop in enrollment lower. Gotta keep all those professors busy.

Along with NIU, and to some extent because of the votes from the college, DeKalb also has a very large section-8 population. Between that and the cost of funding public pensions, there is little city money for things like fixing potholes and other services that residents used to expect when this was a small American city and not the dump it has become.

The good news, or silver lining, is that DeKalb is not as much of a dump as Rockford. Yet.
