AMBOY, Wash. – Police bodycam footage shows the moment search and rescue teams saved a 7-year-old girl who had become lost in the wilderness overnight in southwest Washington.
The rescue occurred in mid-August after the child wandered away from her family’s campsite at Lake Merwin Campers Hideaway, the Clark County Sheriff's Office said.
When she didn’t return, deputies, detectives and search and rescue members searched for the girl, who remained missing overnight.
As morning came, a fisherman heard a child crying on a steep slope near the water and called 911.

You are correct in both observations.
In this article the very first responder who was responsible for finding the kid and calling for help in this event, didn’t even get his name mentioned or a pic!

You bet, he’s the first responder. It was the fisherman who found the kid! Not the cops or search and rescue.
lol...Why would he do that? There was no crime involved.
Fact is in many cases it’s NOT the cops who are the first responders but the citizens who are ALREADY on scene.
Just like this story that just happened in Arizona where it was another first responder regular citizen who rescued 5 year old non-verbal child from wandering in the middle of a busy highway. This happens all the time involving non-cop first responders.
Wow, geographic restriction here in Alberta. I guess they felt this needed censorship.
