One of Hitler's primary strategies to win WWII was to keep the United States out of the fight, at least until he had conquered Europe (and Russia). Maybe that should have been Hitler's goal but that was not actually his goal. Hitler declared war on the United States on his own right after Pearl Harbor. One of the great blunders in history.
