He tries too hard, he seems to be a guy who does things and cultivates interests that keeps him around the guys, the kind of guy who would devote 24 years to combat arms units of the National Guard but then leaves just as his chance for combat finally shows up, as though the previous 24 years was not related to any actual warrior gene.
