Looks like an abandoned WW2 airfield.
Abandoned WW II? Interesting thot right there. Could be that someplace in the area is a strip poured for WW II. But I promise that this patched up piece of krap ain’t it. As an old pilot, among other things I’m familiar with numerous of those old strips, many long abandoned and totally un-maintained, and you will never find one all kracked up like this one. That old stuff was poured to specs and in most cases were meant to handle heavy planes as well as bomb carriers, etc.
Sort of a side note but my all time WW II strip was one on South Point, The Big Island in Hawaii. They wanted a fighter strip there but the lava land was so rough and un-workable, on short notice, that they built it out of wood. They used a half mile of 12 inch square timber. The whole thing got surplussed in the early 60’s, sent to a lumber mill (Lewers and Cooke) in Honolulu, and got re-cut into construction lumber. A few pieces of the original timber are built into buildings around town.
