Maybe that’s a good thing?
How is Natalie doing?
Is the family going down for funeral or will there be a celebration of life at later date?
Knowing the pain you are all experiencing is off the charts
Being an immigrant myself from a large community of Scandinavian immigrants, I would say that comment is not true. This nation is mostly immigrants, mostly legal until the last 40 years and especially since creepy Joe got in. So, I would say it is a great country also because of the quality of people who came here legally, you know, where there were certain requirements, like a skill needed here.
I don’t disagree with that, norsky.
It’s the way everyone immigrated. Controlled amounts, as needed. Even quarantined for a month to keep the country safe. No more until assimilation reached, etc. This is not what this brouhaha is about, and Bannon really does lay it out, clearly, with receipts.
This is not about the cream of the crop, coming in to enrich America. Elon is actually a good example of that. Thinking about it this morning, I would change the way it’s done.
If this is about bringing in the absolute best, as they say, the .01% highest skilled, then that would be fine. I would change the way it’s done. I would establish a Cream of the Crop Department (or whatever lol) with a panel of “judges” who would look at each and every applicant for vetting. If that person gets the stamp of approval, then there’s a pool of potential immigrants for these employers to dip into. This way it is a controlled immigration program, with skilled and vetted employees waiting for positions. Employees must then provide proof that they have advertised and attempted to hire Americans.
No program is perfect, as there will always be those who will work around the law for profit, but it might control it a bit better. As immigrants are needed, the flow/assimilation model can be opened up. Assimilation is crucial. Without it, you lose your American identity.
Another thing I would certainly do is start promoting families again! If America is going through what Canada is, it’s the lack of stable, nuclear families, with more than 2 kids. So many people have no hope of home ownership, so they certainly aren’t planning families, some not even planning marriage. The nuclear family has been all but destroyed - the very foundation of our civilizations. Society crumbles if the nuclear family crumbles.
Hi Dolly......
Being behind on the issues may not be a bad thing these days lol.
Natalie is so-so. Good days, bad days.
I like The Cream of the Crop Department idea!
My mother was an immigrant and fiercely loyal to this country. I’ll give her that. And her love of animals.
Anyway, I think the benefit we have had is economic freedoms. Everybody here has benefited, whether they are cream of the crop or average. When I look at Italy’s history, and the standard of living there is one I am familiar with, the people are definitely not less educated. Colleges is free, almost everybody goes, and they’re actually at a high level. High schools there are probably about where our second year colleges are. But college is only free if you qualify, somebody who can’t do math will not be allowed in an engineering curriculum. My cousin for example, she ended up going into psychology instead. Now she’s a gay liberal. But I digress..
Taxes are very high there, people are lucky to own a small apartment, job opportunities are limited and if you have one you stay with it the rest of your life.
It’s our freedoms that have allowed everyone to succeed, if they chose to try. Give me an average Joe, who has a strong work ethic, is committed to supporting his family, and creates a business doing good work and charging fair prices, and realizes he can only do that in this country - and is grateful. I’ll take him over a cream of the crop any day. IMO The Greatest Generation made this country what it is, or what it was. And they include some immigrants grateful to leave an oppressive country and become one of us.
Maybe it’s all about assimilation, as you’ve said.
Hope you are on the mend!
TY for NNN.
I have physical therapy in a bit. Then going to pick up my anti-flammatories at walmart. Then I’ll hobble over to Sam’s Club for lettuce. I have a big day planned! LOL
So I’ll check out the links when I get back.

Trump endorsing Johnson is “art of the deal” level practicality.
We could never have held up McCarthy two years ago for concessions if a Trump certification hung in the balance. Now, it does.
We were able to hold up McCarthy because Republican voters weren’t all that eager to see us getting back to being Biden’s bitch (which Kevin ultimately did anyway).
The resistance to @SpeakerJohnson
is now futile.
Let’s work to make him the best version of himself (which was more like the 2023 vintage of Mike).
