I recall all suburban streets being sprayed with ddt once or twice a summer. And it was sprayed down the driveways in to the yards.

With the huge numbers of homeless and the hot and wet summer the possibility of severe outbreaks is likely very high.
So are these illnesses the result of the mosquitos simply expanding to the north, or are they carried by illegals and then spread on by mosquitos?

I left in like 1977 when I got My DL and only went back a few times for Christmas at Dad and Mom’s.
The only good thing is I learned to drive there. Gained lots of valuable experience in driving there, I drove deliveries for Auto Parts Store all day 6 days a week.

I remember those DDT trucks in the summertime. Spraying the neighborhoods. We kids would chase after those trucks inhaling big lungfuls of that stuff. We are still going strong in our 60s. The best thing was that the summers were mosquito-free. These days I have to wear my homemade mosquito outfit to beat the suckers onslaught.
