That is not a good training film. It’s old and not representative of the variations within the disorder.
The way the DSM-V works is that it lists a variety of possible symptoms and then states the number of attributes necessary for a diagnosis. It is not rigid in that symptoms exhibited may vary considerably.
I have quite a bit of training in psychiatry.(I do have a degree in psychology but chose neuroscience for research purposes.) My specialty is neuroscience, but I attend the psychiatry Grand Rounds at the hospital and several psychiatry conferences every year including the APA conference.
I have an insatiable desire to learn medicine from all aspects. Just returned from a Radiology Conference in Florida. Being retired, and in a medical school environment, I have an unlimited opportunity to learn. It’s very humbling as there is so much to learn and more difficult as I get older.
