Texas is pretty simple. If you are not a felon you can have a weapon to defend yourself in public if so licensed and it is not difficult to obtain a license for concealed carry. For open carry it is even less rules. In reference to the license it has nothing to do with your home. You can have anything you want in your home. I suspect MOABs and nuclear bombs are not on the list> :).
