Almost two-thirds of people, 64%, agree that Ireland should welcome people who move here to make a better life for themselves or their families, according to a new survey.

The study, which was conducted by Ireland Thinks for the Migrant Rights Center Ireland (MRCI), showed that 18% of those surveyed disagree that Ireland should welcome people who move here.

Asked what Government policy should be towards undocumented migrant workers, 25% of respondents said they should be required to leave the country immediately, while 69% said they should be given the opportunity to come forward and legalize their status, provided they can show they have been living and working here long term.

The survey of 1,465 people showed that 82% agree that Irish companies should continue to be able to recruit people from outside the EU to work in sectors where it is difficult to fill skills or labor shortages.

When asked if people from outside the EU, recruited to work in Ireland through the work permit system, should be allowed to bring their immediate family, spouse and/or children with them, 65% agreed while 24% disagreed. …

Must have been 1,465 government apparatchiks they interviewed.

Meanwhile, Ireland Thinks registered its website in 2018 but did not become active until 2021.

It would seem to me that they only asked the replacements what should be done.

Were they asked if they support unrestricted immigration so that you become a minority in your own country and your culture is permanently changed?

The area that my wife and I live in has been used as a dumping ground for illegal immigrants. Most of the people in the grocery stores where we shop don’t speak English. The shoplifting rate is putting places out of business.

My wife was in the woman’s restroom when a man came in dressed in a Burka carrying a bunch of merchandise. He stuffed it all under his Burka. My wife told a security guard; he said he couldn’t do anything, or the store would be sued for discrimination.

That is some powerful, tempting propaganda

It’s no more intellectual that Aretha’s song/persuasion in the Blues Brothers, for Blues Brothers audience

My gr-gr-gr-grandfather and two of his sons and their wives left Ireland in 1835 and settled in northern PA.

I’m guessing he was one of the smarter ones.

SE King County in Washington State. Western Washington provides more money and benefits than California to illegal immigrants. But Seattle doesn’t want them in their neighborhoods... They ship them here.

Its entirely believable that most people in Ireland would welcome sensible numbers of LEGAL migrants who fulfil genuine skill shortages, obey the law, and respect local customs.

You won’t however, find a majority in any country whatsoever that would agree with allowing millions of unvetted military age men to flood in unhindered so they can be housed above local people at taxpayer’s expense so they can harass schoolgirls and form violent mobs to beat up locals.

What county do you live in? Years ago, around 2018, my British wife and I entertained the idea of moving to Ireland. We visited several times (Wicklow and Wexford areas) and loved it.

Life got in the way of that idea and we decided to stay in Sicily. That apparently turned out to be a very good decision.

We see a few rapper/thug/ clown-dressed, idiotic-looking, Turd World retards strutting around here once in a while, but they don't hang around, and the cops watch them very closely. There's very little in the way of freebies for them here so the vast majority of the ones who land in Lampedusa and then get shifted to Sicily move on to the mainland or to other parts of Europe where the pickings are easy.

It's quiet, peaceful, traditional and overwhelmingly savage-free here.

“The study ... was conducted ... for the Migrant Rights Center Ireland”

Excuse me for not taking the results of this poll at face value.
