I quit smoking 18 years ago.
I was smoking the first cigarette of the day outside in the backyard
first thing in the morning in late May.

Started coughing. And coughing - I couldn’t stop coughing.

“Am I going to quit smoking, or am I going to quit breathing (much sooner than planned)?” I asked myself.

I’m still here, so you know the answer.
Tossed ALL the butts.
Went through six months or so of horrible nicotine withdrawal. Awful.
But I’m VERY glad I quit. I will never touch nicotine, again.

I had my first cigarette in Army basic training along with 80% of the other trainees and became a life-long smoker.

After 55 years as a smoker I finally quit last February.

However the damage has already been done.
