People who go to the trouble to post articles have read those articles and believe there are people on FR who would find them worthwhile.
The person who posted this thread is friends with a lot of people on FR, people who respect his opinion and his threads. They appreciate the fact that he has taken the time to share.
In other words, if you don't appreciate the trouble he has gone to in sharing this article, just go to another thread.
