I don’t lock my house when I go to town.
“I don’t lock my house when I go to town.”
In the cool weather of spring and fall, we sleep with the front door open so the breeze can come through the screen door.
In cities, your building can have multiple groups lay siege to it and just wait you out. They can storm the people from all side and overwhelm you. You normally have only a couple of exits and they can be easily blocked.
In a rural area, you can establish high points which can be manned to see anyone approaching from all sides. A warning perimeter can be set up to allow you advance notice of anyone trespassing on your property and give you plenty of time to respond.
In rural areas, you KNOW your neighbors.
There is no way that I would trade my spot in the country for the “safety” of a city.
