Where the affluent meet the effluent
People think it’s funny watching the wealthy getting screwed...so do I.
I owned a beautiful, historic home on the East Coast. Of course I made sure that all waste was treated in a septic tank according to ALL health standards, requirements, and regulations. However a plumber informed me that originally waste from the old houses was dumped untreated into the scenic salt water river and that the plumbing to do that was still in place though disconnected and no longer in use.
Have no fear the fat cats will not be paying for the repairs, us sucker tax payers will foot the bill.
When our old septic system stopped working after about 40 years, probably due to roots from a nearby Pecan Tree, we were told our county banned repairing the leach bed. Instead we had to have one of the new and improved aerobic septic systems. The advantage is when the fourth tank gets full the system sprays the excess water out on the yard instead of letting the ground absorb the water dumped into the leach bed. So what is their disadvantage? First there is a 1/4 HP motor that runs 24/7 pumping air into the system. You also have to have Chlorine bleach being dumped into the system at all times. Finally, you can’t use about 1/4 acre of our lot because the system erratically empties the system via four sprinklers placed throughout your yard. On the other hand the septic system installers love to collect the cost of installing your new system and after about two years you must pay the for maintaining that system which involves adding chlorine bleach and cleaning the system filters which is a really nasty job. Us folks that have these systems need to pray the power doesn’t go off for an extended period of time or the Greeniacs decide dumping all that chlorine bleach into the ground is killing the planet and it gets banned.
