Russian Conscripts Are Dying in Kursk. How Will the Kremlin Control the Narrative?
National Review ^ | 8/23/2024 | MARK ANTONIO WRIGHT

A notable outcome of Ukraine’s surprise invasion of the Russian province of Kursk — now stretching into its third week — is the Russian army’s reliance on thousands of unprepared, under-equipped, and poorly led conscripts in its attempt to repel the invasion.

It’s often under-appreciated in the West just how unpopular and politically sensitive the draft is in Vladimir Putin’s Russia. The use of conscripts in Afghanistan and Chechnya (and their deaths in their thousands) was a huge part of the unpopularity of those wars inside Russia. In those years, the draft set off protests and a Russian “mothers’ movement” that elicited concessions from the Kremlin.

And one of the big concessions that the Kremlin has made during its “special military operation” in Ukraine is that Russian conscripts — usually drafted for one-year terms — would not be used outside sovereign Russian territory, i.e., they wouldn’t be used in Ukraine. Instead, the war would only be fought by “contract soldiers,” volunteers who have signed on to fight, usually after being offered significant financial incentives from the Russian state, as well as large numbers of former convicts, offered their freedom should they survive the meat grinder.

Those who want our enemies to hurt us are evidently not neocons. They are consequently either Islamist, communists, pacifists.

Macron is a globalist and neocon, all behind this failed proxy war. And, he's let thousands of radical Islamists into his country, which is on the brink of civil war because of it.

And, all that is happening while you wring your hands about the Russians, who wouldn't be the least bit of a threat to France if it and NATO would leave them the hell alone.

Trump is a Necon, and I can prove it in my next post if you so wish.

You're not entirely incorrect. But that's not to Trump's credit.

There was a picture of a bus load of young, unhappy looking Ukranian soldiers headed off to war here on FR. They all looked like my grandson’s high school graduating class. One of them even looked like my grandson.

The lying narrative is everything in this stupid war between two groups of Slavs. Conscripts on both sides are dying.

No Ukrainians are dying in Kursk, or anywhere else on the Eastern Front.

Now the MOD is moving troops from the Kharkiv and Kherson regions, leaving both regions short on troops, betting they can take the rest of the Donbas and declare victory or at least FR trolls will.

Putin never said that. AMerica's stupid Lloyd Austen said "Kyiv in 3 days!" and people like you keep attributing it to Putin.

Tucker Carlson said way worse things about President Trump. And Tucker helped his boss Rupert steal the election for Dementia Joe in 2020.

That is one of the many fake photos and memes some use here.

That photo WAS of school boys from the Ivan Bohun Military High School and they were not in the military, the draft age in Ukraine was recently lowered from 27 to 25.

“How surprising, a Frenchman is a neocon communist.”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I don’t know which Frenchmen on FR you are referring to.
For the anecdote my family is French-American.

Concerning your answer, you probably misunderstood something.
As I said in my previous post, neocons are the fiercest opponents to socialism, communism and radical Islam. Thats why, I’m an absolute supporter of Roosevelt, Churchill, De Gaulle, Reagan and Trump.
They have all proven by their actions, beyond any doubt, their profound anti-Kremlin, anti-communist, anti-radical islam, and anti-NeoSoviet stance.
The gentleman I mentioned above are all neocons, because they have proactively resisted the Kremlin’s never-ending quest for expasionism and imperialism.

“have often been associated with armed resistance against tyrants who attacked us, our friends and allies, and our economical interests.”

Good old Frenchy, with your royal “We” garbage again. None of those things pertain here. Ukraine is not our friend, not our ally, and we don’t have any economic interests there. Well, excepting the $200 billion we’ve poured down that rathole.

America and our NATO allies opposing Russia’s invasion to conquer Ukraine is about Russia, not Ukraine.

Nuts. This is just another dirty ethnic border war. Europe has been having these for centuries Russia isn’t stupid enough to try to conquer the entire Ukraine. They’re too weak and don’t want the guerilla war they’d get if they did it. They’re just trying to grab the borderlands where there are large populations of Russians.
