“The ‘Back That A** Up’ hit”

A sweet, tender, love ballad.

Of course, that is what we are meant to think.

Not one mention of whether he actually had a ticket to be in that seat, or had possibly caused some kind of disturbance first.

Pathetic journalism / racial division stoking.

I’d like to hear AA’s side of the story.

According to another article, the flight was changed to a different aircraft with fewer first class seats available and through an automated process, Juvenile (and not his wife) was selected for the downgrade.

I'd be kinda pissed as well and expecting not only a significant refund in the ticket difference but additional compensation via mileage points or something commensurate.

FWIW, I paid extra for an aisle seat on a long flight. The flight was cancelled and I was rebooked with a center seat and zero refund.

I hate the airlines.

Used to be airlines would offer cash to a volunteer to downgrade.

Yep. Now the downgrades are done by computer and the airline just says, "Screw you. Call a cab."

Doesn’t say why this happened.

Nope. You have to do the legwork yourself and look beyond the Daily Fail to learn that the assigned aircraft was changed to a different model with fewer first class seats available.

Thanks. They should have taken care of that prior to boarding.

Remember when Sheila Jackson-Lee bought a coach ticket and got snippy demanding first class with her, “Don’t you know who I am?!?” tirade.

“ American Airlines has since responded to the drama, telling TMZ ... “American Airlines strives to provide a positive experience to every traveler and we apologize for [Juvenile]’s recent experience with us. An unplanned change in aircraft type affected his seat assignment, and we regret he wasn’t notified prior to boarding. A member of our team has spoken with [Juvenile] personally to resolve the situation.”

According to an AA spokesperson, the reason behind Juvie’s first class seat being downgraded to coach had to do with “downgraded equipment” on the flight itself which resulted in four fewer first class seats than originally planned. His particular flight went from an A320 to an A319, for context. Affected customers, which were identified by an automated process, were offered a main cabin extra seat in lieu of a first class seat.

That happens all the time when they switch from the 320 to 319. The 320 has 12 first class seats but the 319 only has 8. Their main cabin extra seat is NOT a wide first class seat. It gives you a bit more leg room. It is not in anyway comparable. They should refund his money.

I’ve had airlines randomly move me around because I fly solo and people wanted to sit together. What bugs me is they don’t bother to ask, they just do it.

Yep - his argument was that he was already in the seat - nowhere did I read that he paid for it.

Been there, seen that. People tried to steal First Class seats all the time.

Truly an annoyance - especially the young people who tried it. I don’t think they tried it again after I caught them.

I wouldn’t even think of moving for less than several times the cost of the ticket.

More power to him, it should cost any airline at least as much as the total cost of the flight to mess with *any* passenger. Slap them with a $500K fine for any time they even try to suggest something like this.

Any change from a schedule or plan should **HURT** the SOB who requests it, badly.

I hate the airlines, there is pretty much no penalty I wouldn’t like to see them have to pay any time anything happens, from a flight leaving late to being canceled; make all fines for non-performance equal to the CEO’s bonus.

I’m not a fan of regulation, but regardless of any ‘contract’ supposedly agreed to, being late or not fulfilling all agreements should *HURT* any enterprise, and the bigger the more it should hurt.
