Interesting. Me too in 2009. Was runner, ate well. Needed triple bypass and aortic valve replacement (took pig valve).
They said my artheroslerosis was congenital. As was the bicuspid aortic valve.
This Jan they told me my pig valve was shot after 15 years - it had done well. I had a new valve put in by TAVR in March (no pain or open heart surgery) so now I’m on pig valve #2 and aortic valve #3. One stent put in one blocked artery, others are fine.
Even with the blocked artery in Feb. I pushed my heart rate to 161 in stress test with the bad pig valve and no problems. That’s the maximum heart rate of a 59 year old man. Still have a runners heart tho I had to quit at 69 due to arthritis in knee caps.
So at 79 I’m proof of the grace of God - for sure.
I took the pig valve as well, I’m on eloquis for 3 months then a baby aspirin after that.
I also was told the bicuspid valve was hereditary and that I needed open heart surgery, when I told my older brother who has afib he turned white, he immediately made an appointment with his cardiologist and found out he’s fine, he has a normal tricuspid valve, he has 1 biological son and 2 biological male grandchildren who they are concerned about since bicuspid valves tend to run in male siblings or children.
I WAS told in 10-15 years when my pig valve wears out, it could be replaced with the TAVR procedure or whatever non-invasive technique might be available at that time.
I’m 64 and it was quite stressful to be undergoing open heart surgery, the idea they can stop your heart for an extended period of time freaked me out.
My kin usually lived to about 85-89 years old. They drank like fish, smoked like a chimneys and ate anything they could get.
Then there was dad. He did the same and died at 70 years of age of a heart attack. they found he had another heart attack earlier that he ignored and survived.
I have eaten anything that could not eat me first, never smoked, drank a little and am going strong at 77.
At the age of 44 years old I was doing heavy exercising and blew a mitral valve in my heart. Open heart surgery and a mechanical valve placed in. As a result I am on heavy doses of warfarin and do not lift weights anymore. Then in 1986 heart pains. I had a stent placed in my heart and a heavier dose of warfarin given.
I am still doing well on my mechanical valve and warfarin. I will be going to the doctor in three hours for my yearly checkup.
I believe it is more genetics. There is NO biblical reason NOT to eat meat. The animal sacrifices were to be eaten after the fat was removed and burned, and St Paul says...
1 Corinthians 10:25-26
King James Version
25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles(meat market), that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
26 For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.
And Jesus: Mark 7:15
There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
20He continued: “What comes out of a man, that is what defiles him. 21For from within the hearts of men come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,j 22greed, wickedness, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, arrogance, and foolishness. 23All these evils come from within, and these are what defile a man.”
