Near-Death Experiences As Proof of a God
Various Places | 8/18./2024 | By Laz A. Mataz

Posted on 08/18/2024 12:03:17 AM PDT by Lazamataz

I've been a fan of watching YouTube accounts of Near Death Experiences lately. There are certain common elements:

Various neuroscientists have stated that simple biological processes of death produce these effects. Maybe the tunnel and the light can be explained by this, but the rest? No way. I cannot think that mere biological processes could manifest such a detailed series of accounts. Nor is there any evolutionary benefit to these processes, obviously... you are dead, right? Evolution is highly unlikely to be a factor here.

So this, to me, seems like quasi-scientific proof of a God. Now, religions have added all sorts of nonsense around these concepts, since almost to a person, the subject of an NDE describes a God that is utterly nonjudgemental and loving. So, take the 10 Commandments: Seems like the 10 Commandments were written to make OUR lives better, and it is not some cosmic scorecard that God is judging us on.

One person I know personally that had an NDE, would not talk a lot about it, but the one thing he did relate is that 'all the nonsense religion spouts? The beings on the other side, they don't care. Just be loving.'

And that aligns with what Jesus said: To love God with all your heart, and to love your fellow man.

How’d that Internet marriage turn out? I faintly recall some gif with brooms sweeping. Was that you?

It worked out poorly. At that point in my life I was self-seeking and self-centered.

I am much improved, and in a long-term relationship going on ten-plus years now.

It's obvious how much you care, and that just makes me love you more, you purveyor of taradiddle, you!

There is a NDE/OOBE ping list on FR?

Please add me.

I have had more than one OBE and would enjoy talking about it.

The way to get past the materialist myths is to understand the brain is hardware and the mind/soul is software.

When your computer crashes the software can still be on the “cloud” or stored in other ways.

Scientists claim the software does not exist.

Needless to say they are fools.

I posted this podcast upthread but I will do it again.

I could encourage you to listen:

36 years later, I know my dad’s visit was real. I think religions in general miss the mark of what really is important in terms of what God wants from us. The bottom line is to treat others with love. It is not about dogmas and doctrine.

That is Exactly Right!

If you don’t put me on the NDE/OOBE ping list, I will report you to the moderator.

Yeah, and that's the message most of the legit NDE people brought back.

In my opinion and experience, Eben Alexander is the biggest fraud of all of them.

I know and like Raymond Moody. While he is not an ND experiencer, he was at UVA when Ian Stevenson chaired the Department of Perceptual Studies. He and I have had several conversations about his research.

Raymond has a PhD in Philosophy before he got before his MD. His depth of knowledge makes him an excellent speaker at conferences.

Another friend of mine, Dr Pim Van Lommel, a cardiologist in Denmark did excellent research on NDE’s that was published in the medical journal Lancet about 25 years ago.

You know what Rush Limbaugh used to say: "It ain't braggin' if you can do it."

Only about 18% of people who died and had to be resuscitated after cardiac surgery remembered their experience of being out of body per Pim Van Lommel’s NDE research.

“It’s better for me to not become too full of myself and what I “know” for sure.”

Me too.

I read Cayce’s writings on reincarnation as he too went through a lot of personal turmoil reconciling it with the Bible. Years ago I had a lengthy discussion about this with Kevin Todeschi, the former A.R.E. Executive Director for many years.

Cayce wrote about the changes in Bible interpretation as a result of the 5th Ecumenical Council under Emperor Justinian when Origen’s writings were rejected.

I researched this extensively on my own and tend to agree.

Thanks for this info. I am far, far from an expert; other than my own two experiences, and having read Raymond Moody’s book.

Fascinating discussion. There are two hints or a then-acceptance of reincarnation in what is currently in the Bible. I don’t have my reference handy but here they are:

1. When Jesus healed the man who had been born blind, his disciples asked if he had been born blind due to his parents’ sins, or his sins. Jesus answered that neither, it was to give glory to God. SO who could the man have been born blind due to his own sins if he had not had a previous life?

2. At one point Jesus asked his disciples who people thought he had been, and he mentioned two ancient prophets. I am very far from a Bible student so can’t find that part. The point is how could he have been, or thought to have been, a prophet from the past, without reincarnating?

Well well well, I can learn new things, yay. I had no idea there was a NDE/OOBE ping list, but clearly I need to be added.

or looking into their eyes and seeing that they have all ready departed. seen that several times already, once in my stepson after a fall, and the other time my mom.

because they think its all peace and love. NOT.
there are a lot of negative (evil) spirts romaning around causing all kinds of problems. i have seen and experenced some of the negative.. I will not discuss it.

I had a NDE back in 1986, I was testing for the san diego sheriff dept, passed the written test very high score.. the physical part was very hard for me. anyway had to run 8 times around the college track where we were at.

at the end of the run I was not feeling well, went to sit in the stands. next thing i am walking for a long time, then see a black line and beyond the line is all my mom and dads family plus my dad, they all waved at me. then disappointment as i came back. the medical people could not get a blood pressure on me and my pulse was in the 200’s

I dont as a rule discuss this at all.

I also know that angels can appear, as the Bible instructs us not to neglect strangers as they may be angels sent to us for whatever reason. We may entertain angels unawares.

I can vouch for this. Many years ago my wife's younger brother committed suicide. She was beyond distraught, and anguished as they were so close throughout their lives. Naturally she blamed herself for not preventing it. It had been two days since the news and there was no joy in her life whatsoever, and nothing I could do about it.

We traveled to Orlando for the services, and the preceding evening went to dinner. Since it was a weeknight the restaurant had few customers. My wife spotted an empty room and asked if we could have it to ourselves. The hostess agreed.

Nevertheless, about ten minutes later they seated two middle-aged ladies in the adjacent booth. Why, we thought when we specifically asked to be alone?

The two ladies began talking and we could overhear everything they said. Apparently they were office workers from across the street. Their conversation was all about mundane things like missing staplers and paper clips. But as they did, they laughed about every little thing that went on in the office. They never stopped laughing and it was infectious.

Soon my wife was laughing along with them. And the tears of relief started running down her face. At some point, the two women got up and left, and we never saw their faces or stopped them to talk.

But to this day, my wife swears they were angels. And I agree with her, because it was not in my power to console her. And yet these perfect strangers had that power.

That is a fascinating story. You should sit down and document it with as much detail as possible. I am sure there are people who study this stuff who would be interested in your story.
