And whether it’s an EV or ICE auto, they are so packed with electronics, sensors and cameras, repairing them can be a dealership-only operation and very expensive.

In fact, cars in a relatively minor accident can be rated as “totaled” even though they would otherwise be driveable but the electronics/safety features are too damaged to fix or replace.

For these reasons - and the increase in uninsured drivers - my insurance on my 5-yr old Sante Fe increased 25% this year. Outrageous.

Yep, it’s so bad even regular mechanics can’t work on these machines without upgrading their shop.
My older cousin refused to work on any vehicle made be 1997, IIRC. because he didn’t want the expense and hassle of working with computers.
And he was a great mechanic!
