The issue facing the campaign is that for months and months the easy (and successful) tack was beating up on Joe Biden. It took little effort: Biden was in self-destruct mode.

While doing this, an effort also should have been putting together a positive message. The reason Harris has been doing so well is that without much substance she’s preaching hope and joy, and as corny as that is, most Americans WANT to feel hopeful.

When the sole line of attack is to call America a Third World country and a banana republic, it is a downer that turns off many voters to the entire process.

The Republican party needs a Reagan leading it today. I hope our nominee can become that.
