What are the 85% of "good cops" doing to purge their ranks of the 15% of tyrant thugs?
The answer to that is "not enough". Their inaction is a direct cause of the current widespread anti-police sentiment among We the People.

That’s an excellent question. The good cops look the other way. They stay silent. That’s obviously not acceptable.
I suppose it can be explained by their unhealthy “brothers in blue” mentality. Plus there’s the Frank Serpico story. As you might know, Serpico was an NYPD whistleblower who got himself shot for his honesty.

So I think the best hope for reform has to come from outside the police - mayors who are bold and aware, but not leftist crazy. Do such mayors even exist?
And one more thing. You mentioned widespread anti-police sentiment. That sentiment was of course always present among the criminal class.
But now we’re seeing it among conservatives. And I include myself there. I’ve gone from being reflexively pro-police to someone who can no longer give cops the benefit of the doubt.
Something has changed. And I don’t think it was me. The “peace officers” of my youth are now “law enforcement officers”. From peace to enforcement. Not a good thing.
I wouldn’t fuss so much if we were talking about, say, plumbers. But bad times are ahead. Anyone can see that. We need the police to be on the right side of things.
