A camera inside a house caught this bad (but fortunate) dog in the act of burning down his owner’s house, and now fire officials are using this video as a cautionary tale against the “dangers of lithium-ion batteries” and rechargeable electronics (click image to watch on X):
...the fire was “destructive” and caused “significant damage” to the home but miraculously, no one was hurt, and the three pets seen in the video all got out of the home through a doggie door; firefighters also took the opportunity to remind people of this:
Lithium-ion batteries can explode and spark fires when damaged or even if they are just overheated. Fire officials say it’s important to only use approved chargers for them and keep them out of reach of children and pets. You know what we should do? We should take these batteries that can spontaneously explode if damaged or overheated, which are so temperamental that they should be kept away from pets and children, and we should install them in cars, and planes, and tanks, and emergency service vehicles, and transport trucks, and trains, and in storage facilities at solar “farms” in the blistering Arizona desert, and out on the salty sea alongside the off-shore wind turbines—and, simultaneously, we should force everyone to surrender their gas-powered vehicles, and regulate coal and natural gas out of existence, all in the name of progressivism and protecting the environment.
Nevermind that lithium battery fires can’t be extinguished—the protocol is controlling the blaze as much as possible until it self-extinguishes—and nevermind that they spew extra-toxic fumes into the air while burning because… “fossil fuels” bad. (Oil isn’t actually a fossil fuel, but a true renewable energy source.)

Beat me to it. Stupid dog probably voted for BIDEN.
It’s a huge problem in cars. The soy-based insulation attracts mice and rats. They eat the insulation and nest in the engine compartment. The damages can run into the thousands of dollars.
If there is anything rubbery around the house on the floor, the dog will find it and destroy it. I’ve lost three medical devices that way. I just forget and accidentally leave them on the nightstand or end table or I don’t notice that I’ve knocked it on the floor and there goes another $250. I’m vigilant, but slip-ups do happen.
LOL
I saw that one, too. He was half BBQ’d when they dragged him out.
This story has been repeated many times over the years, but its veracity is questionable. This is from someone who has owned restored classic cars many if not most with at least some rodent damage to the wiring. I am currently working on a rare 1942 Cadillac.
Typically, vehicles with fairly severe damage to the insulation still start up and run. But they can start blowing fuses as you drive them around, so you have to hunt down the problem spots and make some repairs.
Appears to be a lab. Don’t much care for labs. Had one a few years back that chewed on anything that wouldn’t chew back. Stupid dog chewed up a ceramic pot.... a ceramic pot of all things.... go figure. Was glad when she ran off one day and didn’t return. Found things months later that got destroyed by that stupid dog.
Why should they trust us with lithium batteries?
They must all be banned immediately.
understood
we have a friend with a really nice dog who chews up every toy he gets
plus the car seats and door handles
smiles
They’ll chew on anything, but they’re attracted to the new insulation.
They both stood there staring for a moment. You could almost hear the dog's thoughts: "Oh boy, Dad's gonna be mad!"
They’ve been chewing insulation long before the “new” insulation came out.
I’ve looked into this and nobody has definitively proven that the new insulation is more attractive to mice than the old.
Great video.
Incredible. Did they determine why the battery exploded?
I don’t know, but these things seem to do it a lot.
