That’s a great listing of just how important petrochemical stuff really is. It gets super interesting and even entertaining when the hippieenvirofreeks try to beat the system by coming up with non-petro substitutes.
One of my favorites is the auto industry geniuses who tried to get the petro out of the insulation in auto wiring. Starting back around the mid 90’s they started putting in wiring with soy bean oil based insulation. Electrically it works OK but the mice and rats love the insulation. Any machine that sets around a bit will get rat-chewed wiring. It’s gonna be a hoot when the Tesla crowd starts realizing the rats like their rides too? The varmits never bothered the old stuff.
So now, go down that list and try to figger out what you would substitute to make any particular item out of. Sticking your stuff together with pine tree pitch might be a fun start?
In 2010 Mazda tried the soy sh*t in their plastic interiors and wiring not only did they have the varmits eating the wiring, the car consoles warped. Needless to say they quickly went back to the petroleum derivatives.
