With Massachusetts still in the grip of a crushing housing affordability and access crisis, one Bay State lawmaker says she has a plan to help.

Legislation sponsored by U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., would spend roughly a half-trillion dollars to encourage the construction of new housing, bring down costs for renters, and make it easier for first-time buyers and veterans to purchase homes, among other fixes.

"The only way to dig our country out of this housing crisis is to build more housing so everyone has a place to call home,” Warren, who is running for re-election this fall, said of the bill dubbed the “American Housing and Economic Mobility Act.

The legislation, a reboot of an earlier version, will “make bold investments in our country’s housing and encourage local innovation to lower housing costs even more — and it’s all paid for by getting America’s wealthiest families to chip in,” Warren continued.

Dozens of nonprofit and advocacy groups also have thrown their support to the legislation, Warren’s office said in its statement.

Get the government out of the way and the housing crisis (which was caused by government intervention) will take care of itself.

just like injecting more federal fiat cash into schools “of higher learning” were targeted to bring down tuition costs
How’d that work out? And why should red states pay with grandchildren debt to bail out more blue states economic mishandling?

It’s for the 30,000,000 illegal invaders, and their extended families when they star arriving.

The housing crisis was brought about all the illegal aliens grabbing existing housing where the original folks were removed for them.

This is one of those standard Prog schemes where government pays $1 million per unit, for substandard, low-quality housing, and everyone involved in the scheme gets a cut and campaign donations.

Wash-Rinse-Repeat.

This isn’t about helping anyone in need deserving or not. It’s only about govt cheese to wealthy liberals who plan to keep as much as possible. It’s theft by another name under color of law.

I have a suggestion, CONFISCATE every last asset owned, managed or associated with ALL members of Congress including their families.

ALL 534 shall be required to surrender ALL assets, minus the clothes on their backs to the federal reserve. Ah hell, let’s go after the retired ones and their families too. Time to make THEM pay up first!!!

And after the half-trillion dollars “disappears” there will be ZERO new housing built, just like the billions over the last 4 years to build a network of currently non-existent recharging stations, or the “internet for rural areas” program with ZERO results for a few more spent billions.

Moved out of an apartment in Louisville in February 2021 and the rent was $600 a month. Moved back to the same apartment building in March 2024 and the rent is $950 a month. A $350 a month increase in three years! That’s a 63% increase in three years! I moved out of the apartment 10 days into Biden’s term.
