I have a lot of variations but one semi flagged (not red hot. Orange hot) When I looked up that SNP it raised risk for Ovarian cancer. I had a second degree relative die from it. I had a radical hysterectomy because I had a mass and wacky blood test results but it had not developed to ovarian cancer yet.
There are other genes for me that pop for Ovarian cancer but thought it was interesting that this was a flag. The SNP also popped for PCOS.
any female who has their gene test might want to look at SRD5A2 if ovarian/breast cancer runs in your family.
now that whole genome genetic testing is much more accessible I really recommend doing it. If I hadn’t done it I would have no idea I have multipllP450 issues because no Doctor ever figured it out.
But there it is RED FLAGGED in my genetics. I have no functioning enzyme in one of them thus greatly creating issues with some medicine. I now have to look at how each medicine that I am prescribed is metabolized.....
Genetics is such a wild and interesting area of medicine. I have a many removed relative..at least by 8 that has lost children to a Finnish kidney disease. I had no idea I had any Finnish blood. But yep, I am carrier still resonating down many many many generations .....Same with Thalassemia and so on.

Semenya is not a woman with high testosterone levels. He is a male with normal testosterone levels.
And to Caster’s point. If he was raised a female and thought he was female I can understand the traumatic effect all of this had on him and he might still socialize as a female.
But the dude is a MAN and should not be playing in women’s sports.
In fact, he was a man from birth, he has a congenital genital malformation known as ambiguous genitalia and the sex can only be defined after blood and DNA tests.

Possibility: baby is XY has 5-alpha reductase deficiency (5-ARD), doesn’t convert testosterone into dihydrotestosterone.
Development of sexual characteristicd is affected. Perhaps baby has no external testes, and external genitalia appear more female than male. Baby is declared a girl, raised as a girl.
Then at puberty, testes produce a huge surge of testosterone. The body masculinizes, muscle, bone,face, perhaps genitalia.
The child was raised as a girl in all good faith, likely thinks of herself as a girl, but her body grows into that of a man. Not her fault, but should s/he compete against women?
There is a population in the Dominican Republic that has a high number of people affected by 5-ARD, called guevedoces, “penis at twelve.” It that culture, the child is most likely to shift to a male identity.
All this nonsense detracts from the fact that they are not female, in the common sense of the term. It’s a tragedy and it’s too damn bad but if they went through puberty as boys then they should not be allowed to compete as females. Or simply repeal Title 9 (it’s virtually dead anywho…)
I’ve seen pictures of Khelif as a child and he looked and was dressed as a girl. So this not some transgender that decided to fight women as a male later in life to gain an advantage. He really was raised female and it’s an effed up situation...clearly he is genetically a male.
If he has an XY chromosome, he was born a male — but misidentified by the doctor at birth to be a female — and that was put on the birth certificate, and that is what everybody went by — including the passport and drivers license, and other official documents.
However, genetic testing revealed that the individual had an XY chromosome which is the criterium used in distinguishing male competitors in sport from female competitors. Although it seems unfair for this individual to be reveal this way, it is unfair to all the other women competitors to compete against a male in a contest designated for women (female). He can be allowed to compete in the male division. This is just one of those instances that should be clearly defined by genetic testing — and not by the confusion of the Olympic officials about sex and gender — which unfortunately, many of these physical education types are.
There are many of other things these people can do — besides any particular athletic competition divided by sex determinations — just not this one thing clearly defined. But you know, many of these media types are also sexually confused.
