I had a girlfriend who used lines like that. My MOST hated was “relationships are hard work.”
Bullcrap. I work hard at my business all day and the last thing I want to do is work hard on my time off trying to keep the princess happy. I was young and stupid then and she was fine as all get out. So glad I dodged that ‘next Tuesday’ like Neo.

“So funny how a joke of womens physical violence on men is ok but the reverse isn’t.
Very true. It is so haha funny every time we here a joke about “Bubba” and prison rape for men. Imagine the outrage of anyone wishing rape on a woman.

Calm down is perfectly fine. People do overreact and its fair and also proper to call that bad behavior out.
I'd be willing to bet that there has never been an instance of someone saying "You need to calm down" and the subject of that admonition saying "Gosh, you're right" and instantly reaching a serene state. And quite often the one saying "you need to calm down" is the one responsible for the conflict in the first place, and now doesn't want to take responsibility for the consequences.

There are plenty of people that are told to calm down because they need to calm down. Women in particular. They run on feelz and drama. When stuff doesn’t go their way they lose their grip. And feel totally justified to do so.

I never cease to be amazed that people can make a living by spouting the most obvious, generalized pablum again and again.
And then there are politicians...

My ex said

One of the many reasons he's my ex. He said most of the other things on the opening post as well.

A marriage may survive sheer hatred but it will never survive contempt. Oh, and never speak about any problem you are having with your spouse with friends or family. That was one my mom taught me. As she explained, "more then likely you will work it out but you will have made me hostile toward him forever. Because you are my child. And he hurt you. Even if only a little bit."All excellent advice, and very true.

Thank you for the anniversary greeting. We are surprised and humbled by the kind responses we are receiving from the Free Republic community.
We had a very nice day. First a stop at a coin shop to buy the last coin we needed to complete our collection of Mercury dimes; then a visit to one of the local antique shops where we bought a couple of items that we “couldn’t live without” and don’t know what we’ll do with them; then a stop at a Chili’s restaurant, my first ever visit, for a late lunch. It was a good call - the food was delicious.
That evening as I watched TV, I became aware of a sense of contentment with life that had come over me. I’m still feeling it today. I like it. I hope it lasts a good long time.
I read your fine collection of quotes on your “About” page. It was enjoyable to read them. Thank you for sharing.

What a lovely day! Here’s to many more!
And thank you for your kind comments about my page. I hope to refresh it eventually in view of all the stuff Trump has uncovered.
