Harley's issues go beyond the debacle of the EV Livewire. The HD brand was popularized w/the 60s counterculture movies that presented the outlaw antitype as cool.

That continued to, and through, the tv show "Sons of Anarchy." Now, baby boomers (the aforementioned target demographic) are getting too old to ride and Harley's high priced product just isn't selling well.

And HD bikes are to heavy and slow to appeal to the majority of younger riders.

You nailed it. None of my friends that ride, ride HD we all ride rockets or naked sport an Yamaha R6 and a BMW enduro in my case. HD is so far behind in tech as to be a relic they only went to fuel injection in 2008. I have owned Yamahas’ , Kawasaki, and Honda. The whole 1%er biker persona is not all that resonate with affluent GenXr’s.

Bikes are not all that fuel efficient they have huge airdrag coefficients and comparable power to a mid-sized car. 120hp and 35mpg for R6 in 2020 form. I had a Toyota Corolla hybrid 23 on a two month contract recently it was returning 54mpg City and 48 mixed. Since I ride my R6 hard it hardly ever gets above 20mpg when you really get in its power band.
