Here is a good video on how the local TV affiliates are given the same script to push a desired national message.

Before watching the two minutes of this video, I used to think that my local TV stations had their own reporters, they wrote their own copy, and they pushed local newsworthy stories. Now I know that they are fed a common script that they all read to their viewers across all TV affiliates across the country.
