Harris was picked because Democrats understand that normal Americans like things orderly, regular, and by the book. Also, when they ripped off the bandaid by removing Biden, they wanted it done as fast as possible, as soon forgettable. His veep is the only logical substitute.
They can’t do it twice. Beyond her there’s no logical substitute, there’s only chaos at the convention, plus a threat to their hold on the campaign funds. That won’t do.
With Harris they might be able to market her enough to make the steal credible — a close loss to Trump, and a steal of a couple of battleground states. That’s their best shot.
With anyone else, they’d lose all credibility and Trump would be looking at 400EV, meaning they’d have to shoot him again and that’s kinda problematic too.
They had to pick Kamala or they would have pissed off the most loyal members of their base African American Women.
Who will vote for Kamala 95% or more.
Even though she is only 1/4 Black.
What the Dems were looking at IF they had stuck with Biden was a LANDSLIDE. Which means they not only would have lost POTUS, but more house seats, maybe the Senate, more governors, State Reps and your local dog catcher.
So, Kamala was their best alternative. They will pair her up with some Dem Governor and that will make it close. Potentially close enough to cheat in a couple swing states.
