Here is a 4 plus hour version of that fantastic film 16 Days of Glory. This is for those that wish to watch an Olypmics but not be bothered by freaks and furries...enjoy.
I am actually in this flick for a few seconds. I was a decathlete and friends with a lot of the guys on the track competing including Daley Thompson. I am in the picture when the British guy jumps out with the Union Jack as Daley passes by me....
BTW- Bud Greenspan was incredible...
Now how cool is that!
I hope everyone enjoys the opening ceremonies of these games—quite different than Paris...this is a gtreat film about the stories of winners and losers during these games. Very inspirational and compelling..
The story of Henry Marsh in this documentary is incredible. I was in the stadium that day as i was when Mary Decker fell.
LIstening to all these stories of folks here on FR that were part of that 1984 history in Los Angeles. Cool Beans! Have been watching this expanded version of 16 days of Glory and it is just fantastic. Good Stories—the hookum is left outisde—
Back when the Olympics was actually about sport.
The video has been removed.
How many Olympics shooting events are there?
The Olympic program includes 15 shooting events:
Men’s
Women’s
Mixed team
It’s back now. When I first clicked the link, the YouTube screen said “This video has been removed”. Thanks.
I actually downloaded the video using an add on on my firefox browser. So I don’t have to worry about youtube being weird...
image won’t open for me- can you tell me what it is??
I don’t understand why you can’t see it.
My anti-virus being anal.
I am in the front row wearing a white tank top- Florida Relays tank top. I was going to jump on the track hand Daley Thompson an Olympic flag and say, “See you in four years Daley” when the guy in the union jack jumped out ahead of me!!!
I was there for track & field, seeing a US team sweep one of the events, sprint I’m sure.
I was there when a long-distance run involved an African who was lapped badly. Everyone in the stands gave him the wave as he passed and clapped him on and he finally finished.
I was a teenager and don’t recall what days we were there, sorry. Don’t even recall the exact events or day of the week! We also went to Santa Anita for dressage. My dad took my grandfather to boxing.
I can tell you, it was a fantastic event. Everything was perfect. Nothing was a hassle. Ueberroth did a magnificent job. Including this opening ceremonies. We only saw that on TV but they were wonderful.
I see it now on my phone. I am the guy standing out in the stands. Black hair in front of the union jack. I was going to give a flag to Daley Thompson before that guy jumped out in front of me. If you go a little further you can see me say, “see you in four years!” before I toss the flag at him.
