I’ve never really studied the difference between a republic and democracy. So I did a quick search and found they are basically the same, but in a democracy the majority always winds up ruling and can for all intents and purposes crush the minority. That goes for religious rights as well as private property rights.
This one I found most disturbing, and likely one reason the left wants to eliminate republic from the thoughts of their minions:
Are there constraints on the government for a democracy - No; the majority can impose its will on the minority.
Are there constraints on government for a Republic - Yes; the majority cannot take away certain inalienable rights.

In the real world, the United States is neither a republic nor a democracy. Power is in the hands of an elite clique made up of extremely wealthy men, the politicians they bribe, their mouthpieces in the legacy media, academia, and the nonprofits, and the Deep State, the older term for which is the permanent government. In other words, we are ruled by an oligarchy that does not care for the constitutional restraints of a republic or the popular will of a democracy.
Democracies work OK in small Vermont Towns where they still adhere to the town meeting government style.
Once you get “big”, democracies become unwieldy. The majority will often crush the minority. And in the end, the minorities NEVER get a say in government.
And the constant “voting” that would take place would become tedious.
