A mere 66 years after the Wright Brother’s first flight, Americans had not only sent men to walk on and plant their flag on the Moon but, even more impressively, had returned them to earth safely.
If we did indeed accomplish this, why does Gus Grissom’s wife believe he was killed for saying the Apollo program was decades away from going to the moon?

I know a member of Apollo 17, he is still alive. We lived in his home town, my wife knew his mother from church. My wife worked on his Senate re-election campaign as a volunteer. (he was defeated, long story)
For many years I lived in NM. Knew a lot of people connected to scientific research. Not sure where you get the impression the space program was fake. It was/is very real.
