At 1:15 in the above link, FBI Director Wray answers questions about the 5-foot ladder:
“We’ve traced the purchase of that ladder from a receipt - a bloodied receipt that he had on him at the time his body was recovered on the roof.”
Wray also states, “We do not yet know for sure how exactly he got up on the roof.”
He subsequently states that he knows that particular ladder “was not on scene and I know it was not in his vehicle.”
I find those tidbits to be curious... especially his “circle back” comment.
