They promised to host the “greenest” Olympics ever, a Games that would double as an eco-friendly model for a warming world. All involved in the planning of Paris 2024, from the IOC to politicians, seemed to be on board. They touted a plan to halve the carbon footprint of the Olympics. They’d ditch diesel generators for renewable energy; they’d shun gas-guzzling buses for electric vehicles; they’d repurpose existing venues and build repurposable ones, with seats made from recycled plastic.

They avoided going off the greenie cliff until the last 8 paragraphs, that begins with this touching lament by some rando simpleton:

IMHO, the Olympics TV coverage was ruined when emphasis changed from covering as many events as possible, to doing deep dives into the backgrounds of the stars.

I stopped watching after the first Olympics of that.

Any serious environmentalist would want the Olympics banned.

Athletes and of course spectators fly in from all over the world.

Funny thing is that Paris is taking a hit in tourism because visitors are avoiding the city due to the Olympics.
