I think I am the only person in America who still believes the Iraq war of 2003 was absolutely correct.

It makes me sad when Republicans capitulate their history and accept radical left wing talking points from 20 years ago.

This is not winning and the entire NEO CON scam running here at FR is pure left wing fantasy.

Republicans will not be true winners until they can actually control and validate their own history. The dismal spiral of repudiation that comes for every prior iteration of Republican president is proof that the radical Left owns our public sphere.

Part of the simple logic is asking whether Gore or Kerry would have been a better president in 2000 or 2004. If the answer is not then we need to stop pretending that every prior Republican president is a dolt.

For all the NEO CON reactionaries, ask yourself this: How brilliant was it for Trump to annihilate the Iranian general Soleiman on the tarmac at Bagdad?

Correct answer: Massively brilliant.

Even though it is arguably an act of war and ‘risks dragging us into another war’ it was and continues to be the right thing to do. In many respects, it is Trump’s aggressive militarism that keeps America safe. He ordered the killing of hundreds of Russian soldiers. That undoubtedly something that gives him leverage to say the Russia Ukraine conflict will end before he becomes President.

I am glad we fought and won the Iraq war of 2003 even if Vance is not. How dumb is it to predicate your renewal in American idealism upon. your military service in Iraq while demeaning the purpose of that service? We can make better arguments than Vance is offering.

The war was fine, lightning fast, and brilliantly executed. Debaathification, disbanding their military and government, imprisoning senior civilian and military leadership, and attempting to impose democracy through long term occupation, was disastrous. Instead of leaving the Iraqi military/government intact and allowing them to maintain order and crush any Islamist uprising, we drove them to join the insurgency.
