[Intro: Merry Clayton]
Ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh, a storm is threatening
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Ooh yeah, I'm gonna fade away
[Chorus: Mick Jagger & Merry Clayton]
War, children
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children It's just a shot away It's just a shot away, yeah

Merry Clayton makes this song all that it is.
You got that right.
You do know what happened to her as a result of singing on it. Sad story.
Merry Clayton, as awesome as she was, couldn’t hold a candle to Janis.
She had a miscarriage, correct?
next stanza down “rape, murder”.it’s just a shot away, rape, murder, it’s just a shot away.
As for the song itself, I like it!
Yep.
Lisa Fischer, who has performed this song excellently for years on Stones tours, has said every time she sings it is her tribute to Merry Clayton.
Christian singer Ashley Cleveland does a knockout version of “Gimme Shelter.” It’s on YouTube. As Jerry Lee Lewis suggests, she “just stands in one spot and wiggles around just a little bit.” Sexier than any of our half-naked twerking divas.
Yes I do.
This song means a lot to me.
One of my favorite Stones song. My very favorite is Time Waits for No One.
To me, this song perfectly captures the chaos and destruction that came with the cultural revolution.
Some days I think this is the Stones best song, other days it’s #2 right behind ‘Rocks Off’.
Yes indeed! This is just an average track without her power. So much so you even hear Mick let out a “WOOOO!” at one point when she’s pushing really hard.
There’s a great interview with her, and when the opening notes play you can see it hit her. There are LOTS of feelings attached to this song for her.

Saban listened to this after ever win.
