C’mon, man. Disco music was great. Men didn’t like it because they were forced to watch shows like Soul Train to learn some dance moves so they could court their womens. They were quite gayyy.

I lived by my radio in the 1960s and I’ve never heard it till reading this article.

For me ‘60s music coincided with JFK’s death.

In DC where I was in 7th grade The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Kennedy getting shot all hit at the same time.

For the next decade there was so much great music I wouldn’t even know where to begin.

Folk rock, the English invasion, blues, psychedelia, country rock, long form underground radio cuts. When I look at album lists, for me it seems like 1967 was a peak year for great bands.

The soil that allowed that explosion of music is gone and I don’t think anyone is sure why. But Rick Beato does a good job of looking into that mystery.
