This is certain death for a software company. Unless the release was somehow corrupted, or they released the wrong validation version, etc. There are protocols that must happen prior to a new release.

Too many steps to get to the point where it BSODs people's computers.

I have become more suspicious these days and for good reason. The win at all costs left, which includes an assassination attempt of a presidential candidate, seem more plausible these days.

I highly doubt this. They are an elite cybersecurity firm and offer a cutting edge technology. I think they will be fine.

Is it a colossal screw up? - Yes Will it mean "certain death" for their company? - No

At they very least, they are too big to fail and will use their connections to weather the storm.
