Ukrainian forces downed a Russian Su-25 ground attack aircraft on Friday, according to the country's Khortytsia group of forces operating in the eastern Donetsk region.
The aircraft was shot down by anti-aircraft guns from the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade as it attacked Ukrainian frontline positions near the town of Pokrovsk, the forces' statement posted on Telegram said.
The Soviet-designed Sukhoi armored aircraft has been used extensively by both sides since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022.

The Ukraine is losing the war and Zelensky is now open to negotiating with Russia. Russia has previously said it will no longer negotiate with Zelensky as Z's term in office expired and Z cancelled elections; Putin has said Z is not the legitimate leader of the Ukraine.

1. Zelensky has opened the door to direct negotiations with Moscow without making the departure of Russian occupying forces a pre-condition.
2. The first peace summit since talks broke down in Spring of 2022 included 100 countries meeting in Switzerland. Russia was not invited. That summit ended with a timid declarations, which did not include an appeal to Russia to halt its invasion, was signed by 80 countries.
3. Zelensky outlined a new plan on Monday which does not include talk of a ceasefire but identifies three areas of work: Energy security, Black Sea shipping (re Ukrainian exports), and prisoner exchanges.
