“And if they press the button they will die very quickly,” he told the Daily Mail.”

WARNING:
1. Murder is a mortal sin
2. Those who commit murder commit mortal sin
3. Mortal sin if left un-repented of at time of death, ensures the sinner eternal anguish and torment
4. If you kill yourself, that is murder, and you ensure yourself of an eternity of anguish and torment, far from God’s glorious presence.

So where is there any comfort in his machine?

I had a priest who was a teacher in high school. He said that the general attitude toward suicide as a mortal sin had softened a bit. One, the speed of thought is really really fast. The suicide may change their mind in the split seconds before death, therefore negating full consent knowledge and will to commit the sin. Two, the person may be mentally hindered, insane, depressed, not in their right mind etc. so again negating the full consent knowledge and will. Basically i got that only a full on “middle finger” to God despair with witnesses to same was the only way to commit the mortal sin. YMMV.
