What if the kid was never intended by those who set him up to ever be able to take a shot? That’s what I’m getting at here. That some G-man interfered with some other G-man’s play to effect a real attempt. They wouldn’t even care if it actually happens or not. (It wasn’t “mission critical”, just a “nice outcome.”)

My opinion: the kid was put there intentionally to get his brains blown out by the sniper teams. He was sacrificed so the SS could say “we got the shooter, case closed.”

Moreover, there is a 90 foot water directly to the east and overlooking all the buildings where dead was and he would have been easily seen if a team was on that water tower.

So… a guy just decides to show up at a rally and take a potshot at PDJT… and he looks around for a spot that wasn’t covered by USSS and… well whadaya know! He’s in luck. A handy barn roof with no-one on it. And his rifle happens to be sighted in for the distance to the stage.
Now, let’s just see if he can get up there with a rifle without being spotted. Well whaddaya know! Another lucky break! Wait… he was spotted and pointed out to security, Well whaddaya know! Three times lucky! Security blew it off.

It’s more plausible they’ve been leaving gaps in his security perimeter for a long time hoping someone would take advantage of it. Trump needs his own security consultant to check every venue and its security going forward...and hire a dozen or so bodyguards...I also expect every MAGA supporter to be on full alert at any event going forward.
The only thing I know for sure is that we will never know for sure:
Because no matter what we learn, and no matter what we can assume from logic and analysis, those who made it happen or merely allowed it to happen will never admit it.
On Sunday, I was pretty certain that there was at least one more shooter, but with things I learned on Monday, I could see it being just whoever it was on the roof, although I still believe that he couldn’t have done it without inside intel, and maybe logistical help from several law enforcement officials.
But a lot of people who were there, on the ground and close to the action are still convinced there were multiple shooters. Whether any of them have the knowledge and / or experience to actually understand what they saw and heard, I couldn’t say. Such events can be very confusing even to people who are combat veterans.
When the individual went from suspicious to a threat you find out who in the detail ok’d letting Trump go on stage, that would be your guy to question if this kid had help.
You never let your guy go on stage under an active threat. If this was gross incompetence, well, the odds of that many blunders seem slim to impossible in my eyes.
Yeah, that would have to be the case for this kid to not have been “delivered” to this exact event. The one problem with your theory is that Butler seemed to be an exception by many accounts. But maybe that’s just people’s reaction given that something happened here, that’s plausible, too. Maybe all along these events have just been inadequately secured.
We should be looking back at past rallies. Were they secured properly? Would be a good question to answer.
I suppose clues can be gleaned from knowing more about kid’s training to operate weapon used. Where, how long, who paid?
I don’t recall reading anything yet about family background of dead shooter.

I love a good conspiracy theory, but I wonder how that compares with other days over the last few months/years.
There were about three interviews I saw claiming there was a shooter in the water tower, for example. But given the way the mind works, they could have easily heard the shots, turned to see a water tower, and made the assumed connection that must have been from where they came. The mind could go as far as fabricating that evidence in mind’s eye with certainty if it was the belief of the person. Which is why witness testimony is often unreliable.
The incontrovertible fact is that MUST SECURE areas were never secured.
