Can someone advise me what is considered a “hot civil war”?

I've argued (mostly to myself) that we're currently experiencing a cold civil war, and that should be clear, among the regular folks there are two sides that can no longer communicate. (The right often does try, tho.) E.g. I've lost childhood friends because somehow I lost my mind? (Re: Trump, the jabby jab, etc.) Whatever.

Well, hot would be the imposition of will upon the other using physical force, by whatever means necessary, but ultimately through lead and brass. (And when your "will" is to be left alone, while the other sides requires you OBEY [omg you're killin' grandma], then we all know who is throwing the first punch.)
