Conservative churches will have the ZdOJ and IRS hammer smash them if they talk politics. Unlike the democrat party front churches that are immune and can politic all they want.

Forest, trees, garden, water - I am fortunate to have them every day, and they do speak of God to me, move me in a way that church does not always do.

I find I need that hour - to be with other worshippers, to hear the Word proclaimed, to receive the body of Christ.

A deacon once gave the homily, said his wife had been making dinner for him for forty years. The meals were usually good but not memorable, some were leftovers, a few even burnt. But forty years of devotion and nourishment - that is treasure.

Occasionally, receiving guidance on how to comport ourselves in the world in which we live requires talking about the world in which we live.

There are a lot of world events in the Bible. But the reflection is, why are they there?

Why are we discussing world events in the church and what is the proper way?

Our UMC church did...at the 37 minute mark. Asked for prayers for the deceased, America, Trump, and Biden, and hopes the Holy Spirit takes away hate, fear, and pain in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Wife and I were going to pull funds and quit if they didn’t mention or watered down the event.

Agree. Our pastor spoke of the hate, vitriol and divisiveness in the United States

Is the church to ignore evil in any format?

I would not be a member of a church that does not discuss or pray for our leaders.

You must be one of those people who believes that worship occurs only once a week in church.

For the majority of folks who attend it is once a week.

True worship of God should be taking place throughout the rest of the week in the way we conduct our lives.

Don't disagree with that at all. Question is how often do you attend church?

Occasionally, receiving guidance on how to comport ourselves in the world in which we live requires talking about the world in which we live.

Don't disagree with that either.

All I did was answer with a question.

Thank you for all you wrote. I was the OT lector, and as I was reading the passage it sounded like the Israelite leaders were the DS and Trump was Amos saying to them, I’m not an ivy leaguer and I’m not a lobbyist, I just build buildings and God told me to speak to all of you.

Though hordes of devils fill the land, all threatening to devour us,
We will not fear, for God has willed His strength to triumph through us.

That’s an extremely ignorant statement. If he doesn’t realize that this country was formed by those God-fearing people rebelling against the politics of the time, then I would no longer listen to him. Churches not getting involved in politics leads to the overall decline in morality. The laws and law makers, need to reflect God’s values.

EX-UMC here. Had to ask a friend that still attends. The answer was “NO mention” of the assassination attempt,

Our visiting priest mentioned it, talked about how political violence was of Satan and led prayers for our leaders to commit to God.

My Pastor stuck to his prepared sermon. I would expect no less. But I teach a Sunday school class and I brought it up and led prayers for President Trump and the other victims of the shooting.

The guest pastor at our church talked about it briefly. Then I watched Pastor Jack Hibbs online at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills give one of the best sermons I’ve ever heard.

It should be posted later today. They also have a couple more services today that can be seen live. I highly recommend watching.

Before preaching, our pastor had a lengthy heartfelt prayer for Trump, crowd killed or injured, and America, referring towards the end to 2 Chr 7:14. He also included a reference in his sermon. I thanked him after the service.

Catholic Mass, conservative congregation, typical hippies doing the music and the 'intentions'. Priest a visiting missionary from Nigeria. He disappointed me by not saying something.

Not a syllable about President Trump from anyone.

I was and am furious, because if it was some POS Rat like a Kennedy, there would have been lots of maudlin prayers and breast beating.

My take is: The silence is just an extension of the crickets you hear from ALL Rats today. They know they they have determinedly demonized Trump since forever, they dehumanized him, Alinskied him, Gobbles'd him, Mao'd him, and Stalin airbrushed him out of mention today, just as they have ridiculed and diminished him and our movement. To them, Trump is a clown, not worthy of serious discussion in polite society.

No mention of the MAGA movement worldwide that is now dissolving 150 years of Marxist communist domination of our culture, AND, which is acting in concert with a great international awakening of Biblical faith and repentance which is beginning now. THIS year is the most important year since 1945, and in a sense, more important than any year since 1776.

No mention of Trump, who to them is nothing but an old silly duncehat-wearing-professor at a Maoist struggle session, with a sandwich sign on his torso.

That is why there was such silence in the church today: Part laying low because philosophically they know they bear responsibility and want the topic to disappear ASAP; part that Trump is a nonentity in their liberal world, he is a clownish man of no serious intellect or importance. Not worthy of mention.
